LAS VEGAS--Archos is fortifying its series of Elements tablets with the Archos 97 Platinum HD. The 9.7-inch tablet sports an IPS display with a high-definition 2,048x1,536-pixel resolution and backs it with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and an eight-core GPU.
The Archos 97 Platinum HD runs Android 4.1 and features front- and rear-facing cameras. The tablet has 8GB of internal storage with a microSD slot and a Micro-USB port.
The tablet is slim with an aluminum back casing that rivals the sleek designs of competitors but looks like a doubled-up version of the recently announced Archos 97 Titanium. The two tablets have identical 2,048x1,536-pixel IPS displays, but the Titanium packs a weaker punch with a 1.6GHz dual-core A9 processor, a quad-core Mali 400 MP4 GPU, and 1GB of RAM.
