I have always been a big fan of the Food Network show "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives". In the show, Guy Fieri travels around the U.S. looking for small restaurants with a flavorful menu. After getting hooked on the show, each time I travel I try to look up local spots featured on the show, but navigating the Food Network site can be a chore (especially on a mobile device).
Over the weekend the Fan App for Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives for iOS was brought to my attention. This app is exactly what I have always wanted. At one point I had gone through the list of filming locations and created a Foursquare list, but it's already outdated and not as easy to navigate as the Fan App is.
Once you fork over the 99 cents, you'll be able to browse the nearest Triple D venues in a list or on a map. If you're getting ready to travel, you can search a specific city or for a specific restaurant. And of course, a food app wouldn't be complete without a list of recipes and video clips from the show itself.
While viewing a venue you'll find photos posted on Foursquare, episode information, hours of operation, and tips left at the venue. The Fan App relies on Foursquare's database to provided the list of venues and information.
