In this much-anticipated PS3 game from the developer of the Uncharted saga, players must survive swarms of infected humans in a post-apocalyptic U.S. See some scary sights dreamed up by the artists.
On May 7, Naughty Dog's The Last of Us video game arrives exclusively for the PlayStation 3. The developer -- known for prolific games such as the Uncharted and Jak and Daxter series -- aims to plunge players into a post-pandemic world ravaged by zombie-esque creatures running amok because of a viral fungal infection.
In a special reveal, Naughty Dog released some concept images by renowned gaming artist John Sweeney that inspired the apocalyptic world featured in the title. The highly anticipated game took home numerous accolades (and "Best of" awards) from gaming and technology news outlets at E3 2012.
In this first image, we see a vision of Joel, the main protagonist, making his way through a long-abandoned Boston subway terminal. Judging by the shattered glass and general sense of disarray, it appears great chaos took place in this scene. Hopefully he has enough battery life left to keep the flashlight running.
