The rumored Amazon smartphone will feature a 4.7-inch display, according to a new DigitTimes report. Yeah – we know that the source is not always that accurate, but whatever…we’re passing along.
Allegedly, the Amazon handset could arrive in the second quarter of the year where it will presumably run the same custom Android experience found in the Kindle Fire tablets. That is, depending on whether they can meet get production back on track.
The sources did indicate, however, that while Amazon is looking to a second-quarter release date for the device, it may not be able to release the smartphone on schedule, as production progress at its manufacturing partner, Foxconn International Holdings (FIH), has not been as smooth as expected.
As for why Amazon opted to go with the larger screen size, it’s said that recent smartphones hovering around this size was the reason. Initially, Amazon was set to go with a 4.3-inch display.
We’re still not 100% on board with the Amazon rumors but we’re inclined to believe it’s an eventuality.
