The iPhone 5S may not feature the same Retina diaply as seen on the iPhone 5, iPhone 4 and iPhone 5S.
Acording to analyst Amit Daryanani, the iPhone 5S, which is assumed to be the budget version of the iPhone 6 due for launch next year, will arrive in 2013, but won't include Apple's high-resolution display.
According to Mac Rumors, the analyst released a research note saying the lower-end iPhone will not include the Retina display, but will still launch in either late Q2 2013 or late 2013.
'Our supply-chain checks indicate that AAPL is working to launch multiple new phones in the June/July time-frame this year. Specifically, AAPL will launch the iPhone5s and a more affordable but lower-end iPhone at the same time, in either late CYQ2 or early Q3. The low-end iPhone will have the same 4" form factor as the iPhone5 but will have plastic casing and no retina display. With a lower price-point, AAPL will be able to target a growing and important part of the Smartphone market (sub-$400 price-band).'
The iPhone 5S could be a lower-end iPhone 5, but some think the budget version of Apple's smartphone will in fact be called the iPhone 5 still.
It seems a bit odd that Apple wouldn't include a Retina display on its next smartphone - after all, Apple likes to brag about its displays on iPads and iPhones.
Apple announced yesterday that all apps submitted to the App Store must be Retina display compatible, and work on 4-inch display for the iPhone 5 and iPod Touch, suggesting the company will include 1136×640 pixel displays.
Another option is that the company will revert back to a smaller Retina display as seen on the iPhone 4 and 4S with a resolution of 960×640 pixels to save costs and give them the option of offering the device for less money.
Also,Amit Daryanani's report conflicts with KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who says the cheaper iPhone's 4-inch display will feature the same 362ppi all iPhones have had since the iPhone 4's launch in 2010.
