The Samsung Galaxy Note 3's screen will be flexible and therefore unbreakable according to new rumours.
Samsung demonstrated its Samsung Youm flexible OLED tech at CES and it's thought this will debut on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in September.
According to Korean website Naver, the Galaxy Note will be the first device to include Samsung's flexible and unbreakable display.
Unlike conventional OLED displays that use glass, Samsung 's Galaxy Note 3 display willbe constructed from plastic. When the device is dropped, the shock will not cause the screen to shatter - instead it's flexible so will bend.
Another advantage of using a plastic display rather than glass is that the layer is thinner and so will reduce the weight of the device.
'The most important feature of the Galaxy Note 3 [is that it] does not break,' an industry insider told the website. 'Dropping a smartphone even with reinforced glass, will cause damage to the display. In the future this problem will be solved,' he said.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 features a Super AMOLED HD display rather than this unbreakable screen, suggesting the next high profile launch will include it.
Korean website Asiae thinks the company will launch its next generation phablet at IFA in September. Samsung announced both the original Note and the Note 2 tablets at IFA.
Like all Samsung launches, the Korean manufacturer will most probably host an Unpacked event to springboard its newest device into the limelight.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3's screen is said to be somewhere between 5.9 and 6.3-inches with a storming PPI of more than 440, just like the Samsung Galaxy S4.
Other features set to star on the device include Samsung's Exynos 5 Octa, 8-core chipset and 4GB RAM. The camera will be upped to 16-megapixel and Android Key Lime Pie (version 5.0) will come preinstalled.
