Apple’s iPhone 5C has been spotted in a standard black colour for the first time, having only broken cover previously in white and a range of bright hues.
The plastic-made iPhone 5C has leaked multiple times in green, yellow, red, blue and the iconic iPhone white and it was thought that there may not be a black variant, though some suspected one was just waiting to appear.
Courtesy of that recent font of device leaks, Chinese social network Weibo, the black variant has finally popped its head out. Of course it looks exactly the same as the other variants in all aspects other than the colour.
Apple is known to be holding a press event on September 10 where it’s expected the iPhone 5S will be officially announced, however, while many suspect the budget iPhone 5C will join the premium model on stage there are still others who think a later launch will see the iPhone unveiled.
It was first thought that the iPhone 5S would hit stores on October 25, quite a delay from the press event and contrary to Apple’s schedule from previous releases. However, a subsequent leak has suggested September 20 will see the iPhone 5S on shelves, which sounds more like what we’ve come to expect. It remains unclear whether the iPhone 5C will stick to the same plan.
The iPhone 5S will be very similar in design to the current iPhone 5 but will feature an enhanced camera with dual-LED flash and an improved Apple processor. It’ll also be the debut device for iOS 7. The premium handset will come in black, white/silver and ‘champagne gold’ colour variants. It’ll keep the same 4-inch Retina display as its predecessor.
The iPhone 5C will be a bit larger, as well as cheaper and made from plastic, but will still feature a 4-inch display, allegedly Retina quality. Several sources are now saying the spec will be similar to the current-gen iPhone 5.
