China Mobile has officially launched its 4G network but the Apple iPhone 5s, which was rumoured to be coming, has yet to arrive. It seems Apple and China Mobile are still in talks to reach a deal, contradicting earlier claims an agreement had been made.
China Mobile is expecting to sell 100 million 4G handsets throughout 2014 and offers smartphone deals with manufacturers such as Lenovo, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo.
Reuters are today reporting China Mobile chairman Xi Guohua said there is nothing to announce regarding an agreement with Apple. Even though the network hasn’t announced the addition of Apple’s mobile products, the network could still be supplying them in the very near future. China Mobile’s official site has an iPhone 5s pre-registration page live now with TD-LTE (4G) capabilities.
China Mobile is the world’s largest phone network so Apple will benefit greatly from being available on the network. There are over 700 million contracts on China Mobile and analysts see the deal pushing iPhone sales up by 20 million in 2014.
