Sony has launched its Z1F model in Japan. The handset is a miniature version of the company’s flagship Xperia Z1 with the same specifications as its older brother apart from a now smaller 4.3-inch 720p display. The only other difference is the battery has taken a hit and is now 2,300 mAh.
The Z1F is now available at NTT DoCoMo’s stores in Japan and still has the Snapdragon 800 chipset, a 20.7MP camera and 16GB of internal storage. The Z1F also has the Z1’s impressive dust and waterproofing protection.
NTT DoCoMo announced the phone would be joining the winter line up earlier this year and has sparked rumours of a worldwide Z1 mini release. Leaks since have focused on the name being the Sony Xperia Z1S but it will likely be much the same as Japan’s Z1F in terms of specs and features.
The main rumour is for a CES announcement in early January so we are likely to know if a miniature Z1 is coming very soon. We liked the Sony Xperia Z1, you can read our review here.
