BB10’s latest update brought about the ability to install Android apps, a feature which many have wanted for a long time. We previously told you how to get the apps from the Amazon Store but a new app allows you to access the Google Play Store itself.
Snap lets you browse the Google Play store with ease and is designed specifically for a BlackBerry interface. The app was created by a developer who didn’t like the manual side-loading process and wanted an easier way to get Android apps on his BlackBerry.
J.P. Muir’s app allows you to download Android apps onto your BlackBerry. You just log in with your Google account and away you go. There’s no word on whether the app notifies you when an update is ready just yet.
But it’s good to have another, easier way of getting Android apps onto your BlackBerry.
Want to try out Snap for yourself? You can grab it here, side-loading is necessary though.
We've had a brief play with the app on our BlackBerry Z30. Snap was a breeze to install and is quite easy to navigate around, however, we can report that apps you've previously bought on Google Play via Android appear to need re-purchasing and so far every game we've tried installing failed to actually run. We'll report back if we find out anything else of interest. Do let us know in the comments below if you get anything good working.
