Up until now wearable technology has virutally been the exclusive territory of exercise lovers and the odd smartwatch early-adopter. With the introduction of Android Wear it’s beginning to take off in a big way and Amazon wants to be there first.
Amazon has now launched its own wearable technology section of its retail website. It currently contains over 100 different wearable devices ranging from fitness trackers to smart watches, wearable cameras, and smart glasses.
Big name brands are featured quite a bit with other smaller brands being included as well. Products from Samsung, GoPro, Sony and Garmin are scattered throughout the store.
Xavier Garambois, vice president of EU retail at Amazon said, “The advances in wearable technology mean that customers can now charge their phone through their clothing, monitor their sleep patterns and even track their pets.”
“This new store allows customers to find whatever they are looking for in one place – whether that is tracking fitness, staying connected through smart watches or capturing every adventure with wearable cameras.”
There’s also a coming soon section to keep an eye on what wearable tech products are coming up in the near future. A lot of the products featured on the site are also available through the fast delivery service Amazon Prime.
