Capturing Fleeting Moments in Iowa with @hgrdrgz

“#Hellomynameis Hugo Rodriguez (@hgrdrgz). I’m a 19-year-old aspiring photographer living in Iowa, but originally from the small town of Villachuato in the Mexican state of Michoacán. I always try to show something I may never see again, something someone else may never see. I mostly find this in nature and portraits. I upload the one that stands out the most to me, or that can tell a story and evoke an emotion just by looking at it.
I began taking photos when I was around 12 years old, and ever since have fallen in love with the art form, the creative process and being able to share stories through imagery. In my captions, I like to find a word or a phrase that fits the image perfectly. I’m always taking photos with my iPhone or DSLR camera — it’s honestly what I enjoy doing the most and seem to never get enough of it.
When I am struggling, I listen to music and pull out words directly from a song, or I turn to friends and ask them for advice. Our perspectives are very similar and we can spend hours talking about photography. I’m inspired by my friends and all young artists who dare to make a difference by being different. We, as young creators, are not the future of this world, we are the present.”
