This week in Sony: connections, customisation and some entertained Lemurs.

The themes of connection and customisation have always been at the heart of Sony Mobile’s technology. It provides the ability to shape your experience of a product and to connect to the world around you. So it’s fitting that in this week’s roundup we’re looking at some of the stories that are bringing these ideas to life.

First up, Lemurs. Our BRAVIA TV friends have been working on an incredible project using life-like 4K video to help re-introduce captive Lemurs back into their natural habitat. The “Back to the Wild” project, run by The Aspinall foundation, helps to re-introduce primates into their native habitat by using BRAVIA X90C series 4K TVs to stream video of what the primates’ new home will be like.

If connecting Lemurs (and Langurs) with their natural habitat seems a bit far removed from everyday life for you then there’s some news closer to home. The PlayStation team announced on Monday the release of a new PlayStation messages app. The new app helps you to stay connected to your gaming buddies across the PlayStation network and will build on the messaging functionality in the original PlayStation app.

On the customisation theme, this week our developer world team posted a great interview looking at how to get the best out of Xperia Theme Creator with Martin Fodor, one of the founding members of AndroPixel. The Hungarian group are one of the most prolific, and successful creators of themes for Xperia smartphones and Martin clearly knows his stuff. Check it out here.
