It’s fair to say we’ve had quite a week here at Sony as another great CES took place. With a host of brand new, exciting technologies on show, Sony definitely had a week to remember. The event started as Kazuo Hirai, President and CEO, took to the stage before handing over to Sony Electronics (SEL) President and COO Michael Fasulo who announced Sony’s upcoming products across a wide range of categories.
Up first was the 4K Handycam® range, featuring a new 4K and two new HD models. Handycam® is set to capture life’s defining moments and in vibrant 4K detail, making sure you can relive everything for yourself just as it happened.
Sony’s h.ear™ series also added three brand new products.
The line-up included the world’s smallest High-Resolution Audio wireless speaker *, new colourful headband-style wireless headphones and easy to wear, behind the neck style wireless headphones. h.ear go, the smallest portable speaker is perfect for those at home or on the move. Whilst it can fill a room with sound, its compact size and 12 hour battery life makes it easy to use wherever you go.
A whole range of audio products took centre stage at CES, perfect for all you music fanatics out there. The announcements included GTK-XB7 – a one box high power audio system with immense power and club effect lighting, SRS-XB3- a stylish and water resistant portable wireless speaker with approximately 24 hours battery life, SRS-XB2 – a compact and water resistant palm-sized portable wireless speaker with approximately 12 hours battery life and finally MDR-XB650BT – lightweight wireless headphones with bass booster structure and approximately 30 hours battery life. It’s time to get your dancing shoes on!
Staying on the musical theme, we also welcomed Sony PS-HX500, a premium turntable that for the first time, will enable users to convert vinyl collections into High-Res Audio quality digital files. We can’t wait to get our hands on one.
Sony also announced a new line of products in the Life Space UX range. The products are all designed to change the way you interact with physical spaces and experience entertainment and will look great in your home. These included the LED Bulb Speaker, already available in Japan, a 10cm Portable Ultra Short Throw Projector, equipped with internal speakers and battery and finally the Glass Sound Speaker, a stylish illuminating speaker that plays audio by using the vibration of the organic glass, that will launch in Japan in the Spring and in the US shortly after.
If you’re a fan of Action Cam, the next announcement is for you. At CES HDR-AS50 Action Cam was unveiled. Alongside new movie functions, up to 3x smooth zoom and 2 angle setting modes for perfect field angle adjustment and Advanced SteadyShot™ for smoother, blur-free footage with 11.1 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor and ZEISS® Tessar lens for crisp resolution, HDR-AS50 means no action ever has to go uncaptured.

Elsewhere at CES, SmartEyeglass had its very own dedicated booth, offering people the chance to check out how to enhance their business or enterprise using augmented reality. The booth features demos of use cases and implemented solutions by by APX Labs and VerbaVoice, as well as remote guidance and centralized communication for multiple SmartEyeglass units.

In other exciting news, from this week, SmartEyeglass Developer Edition SED-E1 will also be easier to purchase than ever before. Developers can now purchase the device from Japan and Europe through RS online, and in the US from B&H, both of which you can find here.
The device is compatible with Android 4.4 and up, and features 3mm-thick holographic lenses, 3MP camera, compass, microphone, and gyroscope, along with Wi-Fi connectivity.
