At the beginning of this week we welcomed a new colour variant to our Xperia Z5 family. Joining the existing Green, Graphite Black, Gold & White devices is: Xperia Z5 Pink – a model designed to offer you a new opportunity to express your style. What’s more, the phone still has all the great Z5 series features, including leading camera technology, up to two-days* battery life and an integrated fingerprint sensor power button for intuitive unlock.
A lot of research went into what the best shade of pink would be, and saw our design teams looking at Japan’s own Sakura blossom to exploring the gorgeous shades found in a sunset for inspiration. For more images and a full list of the phone’s capabilities/ design story check out our press release
Beating the January blues this week Jeremy Jones took to the mountains in Alaska to freefall down the slopes, taking Sony’s Action Cam with him. You can see it for yourselves in this epic video, that got our hearts racing. Word of warning – don’t try it for yourself!
Speaking of the slopes, just before Christmas we headed to RISE festival in Grenoble. Home to the largest skiable glacier in Europe, we wanted to combine eight of Europe’s best Instagrammers with Xperia Z5 to see what happened. The result? Some really fantastic imagery & an experience we’ll never forget.
We also created a 360˚ video shot entirely on 12x Xperia Z5 Compact devices, each filming simultaneously in 4K. We wanted to capture scenes from the slopes, from gravity defying freestylers to high-speed races. We then edited to create the world’s first “48K” video to show you just how great the camera technology of the Xperia Z5 is.
The video is completely interactive, so you can explore the slopes using the on-screen navigation keys. The experience will be even better if you watch on your Z5 or using a Google Cardboard and the YouTube Android App. It’s like you’re there yourself.
Finally this week, the guys over at PlayStation added a huge 23 new titles to PlayStation™ Now. Another great way to keep happy this January. Just a few of the titles include ‘When Vikings Attack!, Trash Panic, Urban Trial Freestyle and Bionic Commando Rearmed 2.
And if you’re impatient, we have a quick sneak peek of those arriving next month. They include: Batman Arkham City, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, Injustice: Gods Among us and F.E.A.R.
Even if you don’t have a PS3™ or PS4™ you can still access PS now via PlayStation® Vita, PlayStation® TV and select compatible Sony Blu-ray players and Sony BRAVIA™ TVs. Easy! All you have to do is connect your DualShock® 4 controller to one of those devices and you’re good to go. Enjoy!
That’s all from us this week. We hope you have a great weekend. You can stay up to date with all the latest Sony news by following us on Twitter @sonymobilenews
* Battery life has been measured against Sony Mobile Communications AB’s smartphone usage profile, defined in September 2014 to represent the typical smartphone user’s active condition, including but not limited to a range of usage scenarios (calling, texting, web browsing, social networking, game playing, music listening, picture taking, picture browsing, online video watching, video recording and playback).
