Living Your Truth with Jazz Jennings

“Pride means that you love yourself and embrace who you are. I’m proud to be my authentic self,” says 15-year-old Jazz Jennings (@jazzjennings_), the star of the TV show #IAmJazz.

“Older transgender people in the community tell me how lucky I am to have my family — they supported me from the start, followed my lead and treated me with unconditional love. My family didn’t encourage me to be something I’m not. When we realized there was so much intolerance towards transgender people, we knew we had to do more.

So many transgender youth struggle, and I can show them they are not alone. My family has put our life out there so people could understand we are like everyone else. I’m just a teenage girl. Being transgender is a small part of me, but I’m really normal.”
