5 Awesome PlayStation VR Games You Need To Try

Michael Grothaus 22/11/2016 - 4:28pm

Just got a PSVR? Here’s the games to play.

Playstation VR is finally available in the UK after a US launch last month. Like many new gaming platforms the PSVR will need time to get an assortment of must have games. However, there are already dozens of games available for the platform and at least a handful of them are pretty damn stellar.

EVE: Valkyrie

EVE: Valkyrie is the space combat game VR fanboys have been dreaming about. We just hope you can handle the game’s 360º dogfighting without hurling. You can check out the trailer for the game above and here’s the whole summery:

“Explore the intricate sci-fi universe of EVE Online like never before as you engage in deep-space aerial dogfights and nerve-shredding tactical incursions on PlayStation™VR.

Chase wealth and notoriety on the edge of space. Become a hired mercenary and trade cannon fire for cash or join a band of galactic pirates on the hunt for riches. You can even form your own squadron of outlaw pilots and lead the charge yourself.

Experience the intensity of 360-degree combat across distant star systems, taking command of heavily-armed fighter ships as you wade into massive team-based battles. Unlock upgrades as your pilot progresses: upgrade and customize your ships by purchasing powerful new weapons and equipment to take on increasingly challenging battles.”

Batman: Arkham VR

Who at some point has never wanted to be Batman? Not many, we’re betting. At Batman: Arkham VR puts you behind the famous cowl like never before. Explore classic locals from the Batman universe while fighting your greatest villains and getting help from some of your most powerful friends.

“Your quest to clean up Gotham has only just begun – and now it’s even more terrifying than it’s ever been. Exclusive to PlayStation VR, Batman: Arkham VR lets you become the Dark Knight in a virtual reality recreation of the DC hero’s more iconic locations.

Become the world’s greatest detective and explore places such as Wayne Manor and the Batcave as you battle in a brand new and personal story set in Rocksteady’s classic Arkham universe.”

Robinson: The Journey

If you’re looking for a VR experience that plants you in the middle of a beautiful open world you can explore, look no further than Robinson: The Journey. Its open worlds are gorgeous and really show off the potential for gaming in VR. Just watch out for those dinosaurs…

“Experience a living, breathing world with your own eyes using the power of PlayStation VR – and keep all your senses finely tuned to stay alive in the natural habitat of enormous dinosaurs.

See this new environment through the eyes of Robin, a young boy whose spaceship has crash-landed on a mysterious planet where the Jurassic era envelops the entire world. Uncover the secrets of Robin’s incredible surroundings in an emotionally charged storyline and explore the unknown lands alongside an AI companion who flies with you at every step of the journey.

Interact with the terrain, foliage and creatures you’ll encounter, from harmless herbivores to terrifying, immense apex predators – and experience the intense realism brought to the VR headset by the power of CRYENGINE.”

Hustle Kings VR

If the real world is more your thing, give Hustle Kings VR a try. It’s perfect for those who don’t have the room to fit an actual billiard table in their flat.

“Bring the world’s coolest pool halls into your world and make your break in style with 8-ball pool, snooker, black ball, killer, cut throat and many more slick game modes.

Hustle your way around the world in 1-vs-1 league matches, tournaments and daily challenges, show off your cue skills in trick shot and puzzle challenges, or try your luck with some of the unique Hustle Kings crazy tables.

With full PlayStation VR support, get a new dimension on your shots, work on your angles just like a real life game and immerse yourself in the pool halls of the future.”

Here They Lie

And what would the potential of VR be if it couldn't scare the crap out of us? Here They Lie is a fantastic psychological survival horror. I’d say don’t play it with the lights out, but you’re going to have a VR headset strapped to your face and won’t be able to see what’s in the room next to you anyway…

“Is your mind ready for a dark, disturbing psychological horror? Don the PlayStation VR helmet and transport yourself into a terrifying, surreal world inhabited by strange and malevolent creatures.

Unimaginable horrors lurk around every corner, just out of sight, haunting and infecting your mind. Dare you go deeper down the rabbit hole and confront the meaning of your existence?”
