The NES and SNES Classic are very tricky to find, though units are available from certain retailers. But what about the Nintendo Switch? Is that going to be available this Xmas?
According to Nintendo, it will – so don’t worry. You might have to search around, but the company is confident there are more than enough units out in the wild to go around.
Nintendo says it has sold 10 million Nintendo Switch units since the console first launched, a seriously impressive number if true. But as Xmas draws near, that number will likely increase dramatically, as more and more kids add the console to their lists for Santa.
I remember, back in the day, a new Nintendo console would always be top of my Xmas list. Back when the N64 was the latest and greatest console on the planet.
People tend to go a bit nuts this time of year, so Nintendo has taken it upon itself to confirm that shoppers needn’t worry about getting a Nintendo Switch this Christmas in a recent interview with Forbes.
“In short, our unique and differentiated proposition with Nintendo Switch is working,” Nintendo America’s Reggie Fils-Aimé said. “We’re seeing ongoing momentum and strong demand for the system, since our March launch, through the Black Friday weekend, and now well into the holiday period.”
“Our supply chain is very robust,” Fils-Aimé said. “Product is arriving at stores and to our dot-com retailers literally every day.”
That means you have the choice of buying online or via a traditional brick and mortar store. Amazon seemingly has plenty of Nintendo Switch units. Ditto Game.
“If a consumer wants a Nintendo Switch and they see it on the shelf, they need to buy it then and there, because as we get closer to Christmas it’s going to become more challenging to find,” Fils-Aimé said. “I would not advise a consumer who wants a Nintendo Switch to wait until the 23rd or 24th, because you risk being disappointed.”
Now, all we need is for Nintendo to do the same for the SNES Classic and we’ll be in business, as I know a lot of people are really gutted about just how difficult that system is to acquire.
