Following many rumours on the matter, Samsung has now confirmed that it will launch its Galaxy S9 flagship at MWC 2018 in February - next month!
The word comes direct from none other than Samsung's president of mobile business DJ Koh, speaking out during the now in-progress CES 2018 event in Las Vegas.
"DJ Koh, president of Samsung's mobile business, said its first flagship smartphone of the year will be unveiled at the trade show in February," reports ZDNet.
This means that the firm will of course not unwrap the handset at the CES event itself, as some rumours have claimed.
Koh added that the firm would also reveal the release date for the handset during the same event. If past launches are anything to go by this will probably mean the Galaxy S9 arrives in the following month of March. Certainly this was the case last year, with 2017's Galaxy S8 launching in March and arriving in April.
As well as the Galaxy S9 launch, Koh also commented on Samsung's debut of its first foldable smartphone. Despite the fact that he himself told reporters in 2017 that the phone would launch inside 2018, Koh has now said it will launch next year; 2019. Apparently the software UX is proving the biggest stumbling block in getting the handset consumer-ready.
