LG Optimus G Pro 5-inch flagship emerges

LG is preparing the Optimus G Pro flagship for release in Japan - but will it arrive in the UK?

LG has had a new flagship for its Optimus line outed for the Japanese market via a listing on a carrier website, but it remains unclear if this is the Optimus G successor (the rumoured Optimus G2) and therefore whether it will be released globally.

The handset has all the makings of a global flagship with a 5-inch 1080p display, 3,000mAh battery pack and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor at 1.7GHz with 2GB of RAM.

It’ll also have 32GB of storage space, a 13-megapixel primary camera, a 2.4-megapixel secondary and 4G LTE connectivity.

Software is Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, there’s no mention of a UI overlay but you can bet there will be one unless LG makes a massive U-Turn on its previous policies.

According to reports the Optimus G Pro is set to land in Japan in April but of course there’s no word on when it might reach the rest of us, if at all.

However, MWC 2013 is just around the corner at the end of February and if LG was going to make an announcement about a wider release that would be the place for it to occur.

We’ll be keeping our eyes open and our ears pricked when we attend the Barcelona expo soon.
