The shiny new HTC One has been officially delayed for launch in the UK from its original date of March 15 until March 29.
UK retailer Clove, which was taking pre-orders on the handset, posted an announcement updating the availability status, saying:
‘The original launch date was due to be the 15 March. We have today been advised officially by HTC that the UK launch date has been put back to the 29 March.'
'We apologise for this delay, but you will appreciate that this is out of our control. We hope to ship all back orders as soon as the stock arrives and will update you as soon as we can with further information.’
Android Central spoke to an HTC representative, who said: ‘We will start fulfilling pre-orders by end March in certain markets and will roll out to more markets as we approach April.’
The setback isn’t entirely unexpected, late last week reports emerged that HTC was experiencing shortages in its component supply, specifically camera and voice parts.
Allegedly the company is only capable of producing around 20 per cent of its planned output and may only ship between 800,000 and 1,200,000 handsets by May.
However, no official reason for the UK delay has been given at this point.

HTC is in a difficult position as it has been consistently unable to shift enough handsets from previous releases.
Many commentators believe the HTC One is the company’s last chance, so to have such launch problems now could cause catastrophic results.
On top of this, the HTC One will soon need to compete against Samsung’s Galaxy S4 flagship set to launch this week on Thursday March 14.
