Breaking Down Boundaries and Bridging Compassion with @morgophoto
This post is part of Instagram’s #TodayIMet series that promotes shared understanding and bridges closer connections between people. To see more of the photos from the event in Melbourne, follow @morgophoto on Instagram.
Through the power of photography, 20 students from diverse backgrounds met as strangers and left as friends. Photographer James Morgan (@morgophoto) helped lead students from five different Melbourne, Australia, schools in a two-day portrait workshop. “The minute they were in the room together and paired off, the differences broke down very quickly, and they were just students telling each other stories,” James says. The project struck a chord with James; as a child, he struggled with reading and writing but photography offered the creative outlet he needed. “It gave me a way of telling stories and expressing myself through photography without the use words,” James explains. “Photography has the ability to transcend age, race, religion and language, which is pretty amazing stuff.”
