As much as batter sizes and charging speeds have improved, and continue to improve, there’s always the chance we run out of power. Some days we just use our phones way more than others and we don’t have a chance to plug in and recharge.
Portable power banks and mobile chargers are getting better and cheaper all the time. Whereas a few years ago we were happy to get a 4,000mAh battery for $50, today sees us pushing into chargers with exponentially more power.
On average, many portable charging brands tend to hover around, or top out at, the 10,000mAh and 20,000mAh spot. OmniCharge, a company whose products we’ve reviewed here before, thinks things should go much higher.
This week finds OmniCharge promoting its latest product, the Omni Ultimate. It lives up to its namesake and figures to be all the power you might need for a few days away — regardless of what devices you have. Indeed, this monster packs a whopping 40,300mAh power source.
Featuring an AC outlet, 2 USB ports, USB-C and DC in/out, the Omni Ultimate can be fully charged in under three hours.
Financed through crowdfunding on Indiegogo, the Ultimate project has already raised more than $1 million. With a 150 W DC output, 120W AC output, and 60W USB-C output, it’s basically a power supply for all of your devices.
It’s also IP54 splash and dust resistant, which means you can take it with you on the road, rain or shine. Also awesome, the device has a built-in MPPT controller that lets it accept power from almost any solar panel when using an adapter. Moreover, the battery can be swapped out for another when it depletes, ensuring you’re never without a charge.
Early backers could grab the Omni Ultimate at $350 from Indiegogo. The retail price is $400 for the power brick and $150 for an extra battery.
