LG G Stylo announced for Sprint, Boost Mobile, and Sprint Prepaid

Sprint on Wednesday announced the plus-sized LG G Stylo will be available on its network as well as two of its prepaid services.

Starting today, the 5.7-inch phone can be had at Boost Mobile for $199.99 with no contract. Powered by Android 5.0 Lollipop, the phone features a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and 5-megapixel front-facing shooter.

Given the size of the device you might hope for a stylus of some sorts and LG is happy to oblige. Additionally, you’ll find other custom touches such as QuickMemo+ and Knock Code.

The Sprint Prepaid brand will begin offering the LG G Stylo on June 7 where it will also carry the same $199.99 price tag. A few days later, on June 12, you’ll also find the handset at Sprint, too.

The post-paid version of the device will be sold with a variety of options including installment billing. The phone will cost $0 down with 24 monthly payments of $12 each for a grand total of $288.

2 weeks of Dropbox for Business, FREE

With the recent release of comment support, Dropbox now makes it possible for users to communicate with one another when sharing files. Not only does this bring a fun, social element to cloud-based storage but it also facilitates teamwork. In our estimation, Dropbox is the worldwide leader in its niche and is certainly worth your time and consideration if you haven’t tried it out, yet. I’ve been a subscriber for nearly 5 years and haven’t looked back. While it’s an absolute must for individuals, it’s often foolishly overlooked when it comes time to choosing a solution for your business.

Five important Windows 8 keyboard shortcuts

windows 8
Regular readers know of my fondness for keyboard shortcuts, especially those that help me navigate in and around Windows more easily.
If ever I needed "more easily," it's for Windows 8. Microsoft's new OS has earned its share of critics (myself among them) for being unintuitive, with various popular functions (like, say, Shut Down) unusually hard to find.
Thankfully, Microsoft didn't forget to pack Windows 8 with helpful keyboard shortcuts. Here are five I think you'll want to learn pronto.
(Note: In case you're new to keyboard shortcuts, all of these involve holding down theWindows key (it's to the left of the space bar), then tapping the appropriate letter or function key.)
Windows-C Immediately brings up the Charms bar, for quick access to things like Search, Share, and Settings.

10 reasons to choose Ubuntu 12.10 over Windows 8

Microsoft's Windows 8 dominated countless headlines in the weeks leading up to its launch late last month, but October saw the debut of another major operating system as well.
Canonical's Ubuntu 12.10 "Quantal Quetzal" arrived a week ahead of its competitor, in fact, accompanied by a challenge: "Avoid the pain of Windows 8." That slogan appeared on the Ubuntu home page for the first few hours after the OS's official launch, and attracted considerable attention.
Apparently Canonical decided to tone down its message later in the day—the slogan now reads "Your wish is our command"—but it seems fair to say that the underlying challenge remains.
Ubuntu comes with a variety of software packages, including Firefox, Thunderbird, and the full-featured productivity suite LibreOffice.
