We all know a lot can happen in seven days which is why we’re taking the time to fill you in on the latest developments in the worlds of Sony and Android.
It was exciting news this week at Sony Music as Craig David announced a huge come back. Working on his first album in six years, he’s far from walking away from the music industry as the much-acclaimed artist signed a record deal with Insanity Records via Sony Music UK.
If we rewind back to year 2000, it didn’t matter what your flavour was, Craig David was pretty hard to ignore when his debut album ‘Born to Do It’ met unbelievable success and went platinum in various countries. More recently, Craig David worked with Big Narstie on a new single ‘When the Bassline Drops’, which became his first Top 20 hit in just under a decade. Now with Sony Music UK, we can’t wait to see what he does next.
In other news this week, we announced a collaboration with five European filmmakers and launched ‘Fleeting Moments’. We wanted the up-and-coming videographers to tell authentic stories of five cities shot entirely on Xperia Z5 in 4K – Barcelona, Milan, London, Paris and Berlin, exploring any hidden gems – a perfect opportunity to put the Z5 to its test.
With Xperia Z5 in hand, each director got to work exhibiting real people and real experiences, with touching themes of love, freedom and creativity. The end result was pretty spectacular as each film showcases the cities through the directors’ eyes, telling a story about their unique landscapes and cultures in vibrant, crystal-clear quality.

Hot off the press, it was announced earlier today that Reddit (almost) has its first official Android app in beta. Reddit, the entertainment, social networking, and news site that refers to itself as the ‘front page of the internet’, sees community members submitting content such as text posts and direct links. Discussions are often around the topics of gaming, movies, books, fitness and food, with other users taking to the site to post AMA (Ask me Anything) for example or AMAA (that’s Ask Me Almost Anything).
There’s no word on the official launch, but we’ll be sure to keep you up to date.

Finally this week, Carl Froch was the talk of the town as he spoke out about his experiences with our very own SmartWatch 3. We partnered with the retired boxer back in December, tasking him to put SmartWatch 3 through its paces as he got back on the road to fitness. Carl has since been using the device to monitor his progress.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Froch shared his current training process: “I’m happily retired but I’m in the gym every day, not punching but a lot of swimming and weightlifting, running and cycling, hence the connection with the Sony SmartWatch which is ideal, because it monitors everything. I like to know what I have done so I have goals and targets, so I can compete against myself.”
We are delighted we can share this experience with him. If you’re looking to get back into shape, why not check out Froch’s #SmartRun Log.
That’s all from us here at Sony Mobile. Remember you can stay up to date with the latest news on Twitter.
