A render of the Samsung Galaxy S4 has leaked online, complete with specs

A render and accompanying spec line-up has leaked online ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S4’s official launch on March 14.

As we trundle towards the big day, more and more info is emerging from the woodwork and the latest snippet comes courtesy of oft-reliable Twitter source @evleaks.

The Galaxy S4 spec information, perhaps predictably, lines up with spec leaks we’ve been hearing for months now and more recently with benchmark records pretty much confirming the hardware.




While evleaks has proven reliable in the past, we have to say there’s something a bit fake-looking about these pictures. Okay, so they’re renders rather than photos, but they don’t exactly have the polish we’d expect from genuine internal Samsung mock-ups.

Still, the picture showing the Galaxy S4 next to its predecessors does at least illustrate how it might look comparatively.

The pictures also don’t match up with a pair of convincing photo leaks we’ve seen in recent months, showing the Galaxy S4 to have an angular form factor with sharper corners.

This new design language also fits with rumours that Samsung is planning a re-branding of its Galaxy range, but conversely some have claimed the Galaxy S4 will not be very different from its predecessor, the Galaxy S3.

Recently, Russian tech blogger Eldar Murtazin reportedly had hands-on time with the device and although he did not comment on the aesthetic design, he did say it has a similar plastic finish to the Galaxy S3.

The spec info included with the renders shows the Galaxy S4 to have a Super AMOLED Full HD (1080p) touch display, it doesn’t go into any greater detail, but rumours suggest a 4.99-inch screen with a 1920x1080p resolution at around 440ppi.

Not much mention has been made previously on whether Samsung will continue to use Super AMOLED as with previous models or will instead opt for some form of LCD.

Other specs include 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage variants, all with 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Rumours suggest the Galaxy S4 may omit the 64GB variant as poor sales of the same storage version for the Galaxy S3 caused Samsung to discontinue the model.

Another point of contention is the mockup sports the ‘Galaxy SIV’ label (using Roman numerals) where a recent teaser video from Samsung ahead of the launch suggests the brand may be switching to ‘Galaxy S4’ with regular numbers.
