Samsung Galaxy S4 specs confirmed by Antutu benchmarks

The Samsung Galaxy S4 has been caught on benchmark results, confirming the rumoured specs

Samsung Galaxy S4 specs posted in popular testing suite Antutu.

This time the device results are specifically labelled as ‘Galaxy S4’ rather than as we’ve seen before the supposed model number GT-I9500. Interestingly, however, the handset does have the model number too, which is recorded as GT-I9300. We're not sure what to make of this discrepacy just yet.

The rumoured Exynos 5 Octa 5410 eight-core chip is present and correct with its 1.8GHz speed. We were expecting a Mali graphics processing unit (GPU), so it’s curious to see a PowerVR SGX 544MP model instead - another eyebrow-raising anomaly.

The operating system is Android 4.2 and the display is the rumoured 4.99-inch 1920x1080 pixel Full HD number which is said to have a pixel density of around 440 pixels-per-inch (ppi).

There’s 2GB of RAM onboard along with 16GB or 32GB of storage space, Samsung’s upper-tier 64GB variants appear to have been dropped in-line with the Samsung Galaxy S3 which had its 64GB model axed due to low demand.

The back panel will house a 13-megapixel camera while a 2-megapixel shooter will sit on the front and there’ll also be microSD capability and battery life is supposedly comparable to the current Galaxy S3.

While many of these specs ring true to rumour, as well as what would be a logical progression for the Samsung flagship, it is still possible that these results are faked. The mismatching model number and GPU choice are two prominent alarm bells.

The word on the rumour mill remains that US buyers might still see a Qualcomm chip inside the Galaxy S4 when it is released there.

Samsung has scheduled its international launch event to take place in New York on March 14.

In related news, vocal Russian tech blogger Eldar Murtazin has said he has already seen the Galaxy S4 in person and suggests that, as with previous rumour, the phone will have a similar plastic build to its predecessor.

Recently leaked photos would imply that, even if the build quality is the same, the shape might be quite different with a highly angular profile.

Murtazin also says the phone has entered mass production in preparation for the big New York launch. We’ll bring you more leaked info as it emerges towards the launch day and all the coverage when the date finally arrives too.
