The update brings a feature to watch people live-streaming games directly on your handset

When the PlayStation 4 launched, it came with the iOS and Android app which included a bunch smartphone and tablet features. Now Sony has released an update to the application which brings with it a few interesting tweaks.

The PS4 app now lets you watch Ustream and Twitch videos straight from your phone. The feature is called “Live from PlayStation” and appears as a button on the in-app PSN homepage after the update. It offers connections to all the live streams available at the time of use.

It works in a similar way to the PS4's built-in implementation, which allows you to watch people stream walkthroughs of games or show you how to do certain things. With the mobile app, however, you can even interact with them with messages direct from your smartphone.

Other changes with the app update include video playback in notifications from the PS Store and in the “Whats New” section. The app also no longer connects to a PS4 system in standby mode, a strange choice to update.

Want to get your hands on the PlayStation app for iOS or Android? You can download the app for Android here and iOS here, enjoy.
