The month of June marks LGBTQ Pride month in the United States. Instagrammers throughout the country have captured photos of the festivities and parades from the largest cities to the smallest towns.

This year’s Pride comes with extra cause for celebration in light of the past week’s landmark decisions on same-sex marriage from the Supreme Court of the United States.

Pride falls in June to commemorate the Stonewall Riots, a series of demonstrations in June of 1969 after police raided New York City’s Stonewall Inn. This event is generally accepted as the catalyst of the gay rights movement in the United States.
